Fitness and Getting in Shape
Fitness consists of performing endurance movements by calling upon muscle groups with or without a light weight, contrary to strength training which uses a heavier weight. As such, fitness is regarded as the softer version of strength training, aiming to improve your overall physical condition. Fitness can be broken up into 3 large families: cardio training which works endurance (treadmills, bikes, step machines), aerobics which is done in group classes while following a musical beat (low impact aerobics, step classes) and muscle building, particularly abs, thighs, and glutes. Fitness is thus assimilated with cardio to improve cardiopulmonary capacity and endurance. Fitness has a dual impact on the body: cardiopulmonary capacity development and muscle fibre strengthening. The silhouette becomes slimmer and muscle mass becomes more toned and firm.
